Surgical Aftercare

Services & Rates

Surgical Aftercare is a level of service that is unprecidented. It is care that until now has only been available for your dog from you personally, or close family members. We are able to offer your dog the undivided attention and care that you would if you could. Unfortunately for many work and other commitments...aka Life can get in the way of providing your dog the optimum conditions for recovery.

What is Surgical Aftercare?    Does your dog fall into this category of C.A.R.E.?
If your dog...

- Has had any type of surgical procedure recently, and are still under vet restrictions as a result of surgery.

-Still has stitches, internal or external.

-is in any type of cast.

-requires a complicated, precisely timed regimen  of medications.

-under treatment currently for any life threatening illness. ie undergoing Heartworm treatment.

Then, Yes!  Your dog does fall into this category.

At this level of C.A.R.E. your dog will be with a human, either Jill, or Bill constantly. Your dog will be able to see us at all times. This is important to dogs when they are health compromised in any way. Dogs can become anxious if they think they are alone.
The Dog House has an open floor plan, your dog's recovery area is visible from all areas. The size of their recovery area is directly under advisement of your vet or surgeon, and is dependent on your dog's needs.

While in our C.A.R.E. at The Dog House your dog will never be left alone. They will be monitored constantly.

There will be no distractions, no other dogs...just one on one with your dog. Your dog will become our world.

If your dog does not require this level of C.A.R.E.,  Please click here to see the other options available.

10 hour Daytime C.A.R.E.

COST -  $90.00
Unlike anywhere else, a day is not defined by time of day.  At The Dog House a day it is anytime during the day, up to 10 consecutive daytime hours up to 12:00am Midnight. For example, if you need us to C.A.R.E. for your dog from 4pm to midnight, we will do that. If no one is home and you need us to C.A.R.E. for your dog between the hours of 7am and 5pm, we will do that.

12 hour Overnight C.A.R.E.

COST $125.00
Some Pet Parents may just want their dog to be cared for overnight, mostly so they can get some sleep!
We will watch your dog, all night long. Your dog will not be alone ever during the night.  Your dog will have an awake human with them all night long. Dogs are opportunists, they will wait until everyone is asleep then rip out their stitches! This happens a lot!
You will come in the morning to pickup your dog...all bright eyed and bushy tailed after your good night sleep. Knowing your dog was well taken care of all night!

Drop your dog off anytime after 7pm - Pick them up the next morning by 9am.

Twenty Four Hour C.A.R.E.

Some dogs cannot go home at all for a few days when they are post op...for a large variety of reasons. They can stay at The Dog House until they are able to return home to continue to recuperate.

Twenty Four hour C.A.R.E. is a combination of the Daytime and Overnight options above.
Cost for 24 hour C.A.R.E. is  $175/24hrs.  *Note. this 24hr.  level of C.A.R.E. is usually only necessary for the first few days after surgery, or injury.

Every dog is different, every dog reacts to situations differently. Every dog heals differently...both mentally and physically.  We will discuss with you in depth what the best options will be for your dog to ensure them the best start on their healing journey.

Accidents

What If the unthinkable happens...your dog is in an accident! After the vet has treated them, and they are ready to go home, you may be faced with problems you had not planned for. Is your dog now in a cast?

Are they immobile? Do they have movement resrictions you cannot meet at home?

We can in the majority of cases accommodate whatever recovery environment your dog requires.
Since accidents happen whenever, usually at the worst time of day ie night...call us.  Call us from the vet's office.

While we do sleep, we are available at any time if your dog needs emergency C.A.R.E.

We would be happy to speak to the vet about what C.A.R.E. you dog will require. Again we stress, while we are trained in Animal First Aid, we have had decades of working with dogs...we are not vets. We will accept your dog into C.A.R.E. only after your vet has released them to go home.

*Please note if you call and get the answering machine, please leave a message! We check our messages when we have time between dogs. We are very busy in the pool for many hours every day, often into the evening.

If you do not leave a message...we cannot help you.

When your dog is here under our C.A.R.E., you are most welcome to stop by and visit your dog. You may spend a few hours with them. or, if you like, you are welcome to stay the night with your dog.
