Dixon

Please meet our newest family member. Having lost our two oldest dogs in the past year, Mason our 9 year old Shiloh Shepherd, had no fur friends. We really wanted to find Mason a companion. We are too busy to bring another dog into our family, especailly as we will only consider a 'special needs' dog. We joked we needed to find a cat that needed to swim, as Mason likes cats.

Amazingly, within 24 hrs. a very good friend rescued a kitten...who would probably need to swim!

Dixon was thrown out onto a busy raod in Savanah, Ga. along with his litter mate, who sadly did not make it. Despite having an injured hip, and not beaing able to walk well, on three legs he made it to the median in the road where he was rescued.

He was then fostered by our very good friend, Katy.

Katy took little Dixon into her home. He was approximately 4 weeks old at the time.  He was taken to the vet where he was diagnosed with an injury to his femur. He was put on crate rest, then x-rays would be taken again  in a couple of weeks.

After a few weeks crate rest and TLC from Katy and her awesome son Max, Dixon went back to see Dr. Amy. X-rays were taken, and it was deemed at this tme that surgery was not an option. Perhaps as he grew it would be. Since, he will be swimming, surgery may never be required.  He was cleared to begin his journey 'up North'.

On Nov.24, 2015 we drove to Erie Pa. to pick up Mason's kitty, Dixon.
